The sequel to Stardust sticks to the exact same formula: a basic, no-nonsense top-down shoot’em up featuring “relative” control of the ship (one button to go straight and two buttons to turn left or right). It’s still incredibly difficult, very repetitive, and visually stunning.
This game can be seen as a showcase for the Amiga’s technical capabilities, especially since it was one of the last titles released on this machine.

Super Stardust is also available on the CD32 console, where the controls are more convenient (especially for switching weapons), and you no longer have to juggle with five floppy disks.

In 2007, a “modernized” version, Super Stardust HD, was released on PlayStation 3, followed by a PSP adaptation in 2008: Super Stardust Portable.
