Far to the north lies the Forbidden Island, lashed by such ferocious winds that few adventurers dare set foot there. Rumour has it this remote spot hides the mythical mother lode, an inexhaustible energy source coveted by all.

Only two explorers have ever returned alive: Von Bleucher and Barrel Caskett. That was years ago, and no one knows what they witnessed.

Now, the secret is on the verge of being unveiled. Von Bleucher has decided to launch a second expedition, commissioning a massive airship, the Sulpher Bottom, and inviting a crowd of journalists along for the ride, as well as his former partner. As they approach the thick maelstrom of clouds and lightning that cloaks the island, the ship is attacked by a mysterious flying robot, piloted by none other than one of the accompanying journalists. Caskett thinks he recognises Matilda—his long-lost daughter, Roll’s mother…

Roll and Mega Man set out to rescue them, blissfully unaware of the revelations awaiting them at the heart of the Forbidden Island…

A remarkably faithful episode that boasts a few (admittedly minor) upgrades: a slightly revamped interface, a more detailed map, the ability to aim while running, and secondary weapons that are marginally more entertaining.
That said, it’s a joy to reunite with the same cast of lively (and hopelessly sappy) characters, complete with dialogue as spirited as ever.
