Zany, frustrating, hilarious, maddening, cult… All of that!
Rick Dangerous is a parody of Indiana Jones. Armed with a six-shooter, a stick, and a bit of dynamite, he must navigate a network of tunnels and caves, filled with traps and inhabited by unsavoury characters. A job that’s nothing short of perilous.

Yes, it’s a game for masochists; for beneath its cartoon appearance and retro look, it conceals a veritable arsenal of traps of all kinds that will kill you in a single blow!

It’s the kind of game where you must scout ahead, take notes in pencil on paper to avoid being caught the next time. Except that you’re always caught just a few metres further on! It’s maddening, but you always go back. You’re a masochist, I tell you.

Let me specify that my gracious tolerance for such punitive games is conditioned by two parameters: precise character control and a sustained rhythm, allowing us to restart at will. Rick, you pass. Willy too. Dirk and Dizzy, not even in a dream!

If you’re seeking an updated version, I suggest 1001 Spikes (2014).
