Help a tribe of prehistoric men evolve by teaching them to use the different tools at their disposal: the spear, the torch, the wheel, the rope. By directing each character in turn and having them work together (throwing objects to their friends or giving each other a boost up), you might manage to bring them back safe and sound to the level exit, towards the next one.
The cartoon style and well-crafted puzzles are quite engaging, but the rigid keyboard and controller handling pose some problems. A mouse interface like Lemmings would have been preferable. Finally, the overly restricted time limit could quickly test players’ patience (mine, to begin with).
To avoid constant disk swapping and interminable loading times, I recommend emulating the CD32 version (1994). It includes as a bonus the sequel: Humans 2: The Jurassic Levels.
A third instalment, showing little change, was released in 1996: Humans 3: Evolution – Lost In Time.
