Help a tribe of prehistoric men evolve by teaching them to use the various tools at their disposal: the spear, the torch, the wheel, the rope. By guiding each little guy in turn and having them work together (throwing objects to their mates or giving them a lift), you might just manage to get them safely to the level exit, toward the next one.
The cartoon style and well-thought-out puzzles are quite engaging, but the clunky controls with the keyboard and joystick present some issues. A mouse interface like in Lemmings would have been preferable. Also, the ridiculously tight time limit could quickly test a player’s patience (starting with mine).
To spare you from the endless floppy disk changes and interminable loading times, I recommend emulating the CD32 version (1994). It also includes the sequel: Humans 2: The Jurassic Levels.
A third instalment, showing little change, was released in 1996: Humans 3: Evolution - Lost In Time.
