It joins No Second Prize in the hit parade of the most kitschy intro music!

Strangely, the music was replaced in the international version, distributed by Psygnosis (under the title Chrono Quest).

This is the first episode of a trilogy about time travel. The story begins in France, in 1922, when your father gets surreptitiously assassinated by his assistant (it’s disconcerting), shortly after developing a time machine. You are supposed to find the device, hidden somewhere in the family castle, and avenge your dad…

This adventure game, rather archaic, has an icon-based interface that’s hardly comprehensible and even less cooperative. When the game deigns to react, it does so with maddening slowness. Add the usual hassles: nonsensical puzzles, sudden deaths, disappearing objects … you’ve got a typical French adventure game: superbly illustrated and as entertaining as a tax form.

Special mention to the fake loading times: black screens where you stand stupidly for five minutes, only to realise the programme was waiting for you to click to proceed! Aaaahhhh!

Maddening, I tell you.
