Defender of the Crown is a kind of medieval wargame, graphically flawless. Manage your lands, raise an army, and set out to conquer 12th-century England. Here, there are no battlefields; everything is orchestrated from the map in turn-based fashion, a bit like a board game. However, there are small challenges that add some excitement: jousts between knights, sieges of enemy castles, night raids…
The Amiga version is considered the easiest and prettiest, but the strategic depth isn’t very pronounced. In contrast, the Commodore 64 version is more technical, more difficult, though graphically outdated. You can’t have it all.

In 2003, a remake was released on PC and a few consoles, under the title Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown.
