A first-person RPG unearthed by Throwontax:
Hey there, my dear Dazël, am I developing early cataracts, or have you really neglected to mention the magnificent Bloodwych?
Could it be that you’ve overlooked this outstanding role-playing game, which—long before Hired Guns—let two players share the same screen?
Did you miss its sprawling grey corridors filled with monsters, merchants, and magical crystals? Its spectacular spells, like those green energy balls that hugged the walls, only to slam straight back into your teeth if you misjudged their path? Or its devilish traps, like the ones my brother and I called the “retournac” (turnbacks) which would simply spin your party around. When every wall looks identical, you don’t realise you’ve ended up going the wrong way, and that alone is enough to undo even the sharpest adventurer!
I trust you’ll promptly correct this egregious omission, or I shall cease singing your praises to the world!
Bloodwych is, of course, reminiscent of Dungeon Master. The game screen is smaller, and the decor quality takes a bit of a hit. However, its standout feature compared to its predecessor is the ability to play cooperatively—with two players at once!
The real question is whether you’ll manage to rope a friend into it these days…
