Four heroes (a warrior, a cleric, a sorcerer, and a druid), chosen by their respective castes, unite to retrieve lost relics deep within a crypt: four legendary weapons that will allow them to defeat Estoroth, the lord of darknessā¦
Black Crypt is a first-person role-playing game with an oppressive atmosphere. The interface is clear, and the graphics are well-designed, though a bit repetitive. Like in Dungeon Master, you wander through underground labyrinths, scouring every corner for weapons, armour, and other magical scrolls, while carefully managing your supplies to avoid starving or dying of thirst along the way. The battles take place in real time, which makes the game even more stressful.
The same studio, Raven Software, would later go on to create Heretic and Hexen (among others).
