A wicked sorcerer named Hexaae has sent a swarm of mutant insects to attack your beloved while she slept. She will perish unless you bring her an antidote. Using your grandfather’s magical Talisman, you transform into a bee and set off to confront the infamous sorcerer, ready to tear apart the insect armies he sends your way.
The animated intro is worthy of a role-playing game. Yet, this is a pure shoot’em up, colourful and dynamic, where the usual spaceships are replaced by swarms of insects. As with most shooting games on the Amiga, I particularly enjoyed the music.
There is a two-player mode (the second player controls a smaller bee, dependent on the first one).
In the same vein, I recommend trying Insector X (arcade, 1989) and Insector X (Sega Genesis, 1989). The two have little in common.
