Turrican 3 was developed for the Sega Genesis (Mega Turrican, 1994). It also appeared on the Super Nintendo (Super Turrican, 1993) in a unique adaptation.
Personally, I prefer the Sega Genesis version. The Amiga might offer better music, but the colours and parallax effects seem off… That said, fans of the series were somewhat thrown off by the third instalment’s clear shift towards a more “arcade” style: more action, less exploration, with shorter and more linear levels. Honestly, I wouldn’t call that a bad move. The real issue lies in losing the multidirectional cannon—a signature feature of any Turrican—in favour of a clunky grappling hook that doesn’t exactly help the effort to speed up the gameplay.

Compared to its predecessor, it’s more approachable. The easy mode strikes me as unnecessary, especially since it locks players out of the final levels. As for the overall aesthetic, opinions vary—I find it visually unappealing and cluttered, though, to be fair, it’s technically on par with what consoles of the era typically offered.
