You’re in charge of a squad of six genetically modified soldiers. Your mission? Save the universe from the imminent awakening of an ancient evil god…
This RPG blends adventure and strategy, set in a dark, futuristic universe and beautifully presented. But brace yourself—it’s a beast to figure out. The manual is essential (naturally), along with paper, a pencil, and a thermos of coffee, because you’ll be drawing maps and taking notes. On top of that, the sleekly designed interface won’t yield without a fight. Expect the first few hours to be an exercise in bewilderment.
The game nails atmosphere but struggles with pacing (and animations). Turn-based combat drags on far too long, and the clunky interface is bogged down by needlessly convoluted features—like fiddling with computer terminals or crafting incomprehensible spells using a screen full of icons (the manual is no help here). In short, it’s yet another example of why I champion games that are simple and user-friendly, even if their look would make a pregnant woman give birth to a gargoyle! This one’s more like the opposite.
