A basic platformer game, similar to Chuckie Egg (ZX Spectrum, 1983). You need to collect all the pearls (or orbs, or whatever), plus the letters in a specific order (so that they form a word related to computing), jumping from one platform to another or climbing ladders while avoiding monsters and traps. Once the time limit runs out, a spider descends from the top of the screen and relentlessly chases you. It then becomes nearly impossible to finish the level, as losing a life doesn’t even grant you extra time.

There’s a sequel called Runaway Mike, but it never went beyond the playable demo stage.

The versions of Mike the Magic Dragon available on emulation sites don’t allow you to go beyond the first level (defective crack, apparently). I found a functional version on Internet Archive and am hosting it here for preservation purposes.
