A game for the lads! Help poor Larry, a 40-year-old virgin, finally lose his V-card. Tonight’s agenda: hitting on women at the bar, flirting at the casino, and stopping by the drugstore (to pick up mint-flavoured prophylactics). It’s funny, not always very subtle, but it gets the job done!
The graphical interface is pretty bare-bones. You can move Larry with the mouse, but all actions are carried out by typing commands, much like in interactive fiction games like Zork.
A revamped version was released in 1991, introducing an icon-based interface, improved graphics, and a proper soundtrack. In 1993, it got a high-definition remake.
Leisure Suit Larry was a big hit and spawned a whole series of sequels. Fun fact: the first game was heavily inspired by the text-based adventure Softporn Adventure (Apple II, 1981).
