The Indiana Jones franchise has inspired countless video games of varying quality. This one enjoyed significant success on the Amiga (among other platforms). While it doesn’t stray too far from the film (Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, 1989), it does offer the occasional surprise for the more daring player…

It’s the third adventure game developed by Lucasfilm using the famous SCUMM engine, following Maniac Mansion and Zak McKracken. The same point-and-click interface is used: select actions with the mouse (at the bottom of the screen) and combine them with elements in the environment.

Some puzzles can be solved in multiple ways, and during dialogues, players choose their responses. This can lead to unexpected twists, mini-games, or even death in certain cases—so don’t forget to save before getting clever!

To avoid constant disk-swapping, I’d recommend either installing the game on an Amiga hard drive (for advanced users) or playing the PC-DOS version. Alternatively, you can purchase it on Steam or GOG.

In 1993, the sequel Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis was released—an ambitious, original game based on none of the films.
