Fire and Ice: The Daring Adventures Of Cool Coyote is a flashy platformer, packed with bonuses and secret passages. The usual routine, really.
The coyote uses ice balls to freeze his enemies. Other weapons are available, but they’re in such short supply they barely serve a purpose…
To access the next level, you’ll need to piece together a key from six parts. You can gather them from the local creatures after kindly freezing and smashing them to bits.
Along the way, you might encounter some puppies who’ll follow you everywhere, provided you don’t go too fast. The goal is to escort them (along with the six key pieces) to the exit to earn extra lives. Watch out, it’s a real pain…
Graphically, it’s beautiful, no complaints there. Musically … a torture, but you get used to it. The controls aren’t great (there’s some unpleasant inertia in the early levels, but hey … snow makes you slip).
Despite its merits, Fire and Ice pales in comparison to Toki or James Pond 2, which are more fun and less repetitive.
