One of the last fighting games released on the Amiga, inspired by the titles produced by SNK and Capcom for the Neo-Geo in the mid-’90s (Street Fighter 2, Fatal Fury, Art of Fighting, The King of Fighters).
The production is polished, with detailed backgrounds that don’t come at the cost of smooth animation. However, it arrived a little too late to make a lasting impact. By 1996, 3D fighting games were already dominating the scene in arcades and on 32-bit consoles (Virtua Fighter, Tekken, and Fighting Vipers, not to mention the famous Fighters Megamix on the Saturn).
Emulation enthusiasts, rest easy: while Fightin’ Spirit spans five disks, it supports four drives and recognises two-button controllers. Upon booting, you’ll encounter a lengthy black screen—don’t panic; it’s normal, just wait a minute.
Oh, and kudos for the effort to include lots of digitised voices. Too bad they’re utterly incomprehensible. Could someone transcribe the lyrics from the intro music?
