Colditz Castle, in Germany, served as a prison for Allied officers during World War II. Several escapes (and some failed attempts) inspired books, films, and a board game released in 1973, which the title is based on.
You take turns controlling four soldiers, prisoners inside a maze of corridors and doors, which you’ll need to explore thoroughly before you can come up with a plan to escape. Fortunately, this is a video game, so expect to find keys, lockpicks, and tools lying around everywhere…
Originally, the game was sold with a map of the area and a short story. I don’t think it’s essential to get your hands on them. The real appeal of the game, in my opinion, lies in drawing the maps yourself on paper.
Note that the arrow keys are reserved for picking up objects and managing your inventory. So choose different keys if you want to emulate a joystick.
No save system was provided, a shortcoming thankfully addressed by the emulator.
