Armed robots have rebelled against their creators and taken over an underground research facility. Your mission: remotely pilot a tank amusingly named Cytron, and possibly rescue the scientists frantically running for their lives…

Your vehicle navigates fairly smoothly through a maze of corridors and airlocks patrolled by killer robots. Occasionally, barriers block your path, which you’ll need to open by activating the correct switches. Much like in Alien Breed, computer terminals provide access to new weapons, facility maps, or passwords for advancing to the next levels.

The game’s only real twist is the ability to split your tank into two smaller units, “Cyt” and “Ron”, letting you control either one and recombine them whenever you like. It’s a clever concept, but it doesn’t feel fully developed. As in Fusion, the frantic action and puzzle-solving feel at odds, with neither element explored in depth. Moreover, the irritating time limit once again serves to disguise a lack of creativity in the level design. Despite a promising start, the game quickly loses its appeal—a real shame.

That said, credit is due for the dual-joystick control scheme, allowing you to move and shoot in different directions.
Be careful, though: hitting “Enter” exits the game instantly!
