Chuck Rock 2, unlike its predecessor, I believe, was originally a Sega Genesis game (so, of course, you’d better replay it on a Sega Genesis emulator, or even Mega-CD if you fancy watching the animated intro).
As in about 90% of cases, the pathetic excuse for a plot revolves around a kidnapping. In the first instalment, Chuck set off to rescue his wife; this time, it’s the little lad going off to free Chuck. And the little lad in question? A baby armed only with a nappy and a club…
The humorous tone is still there, along with the bent dinosaurs and the occasional interaction with the scenery (rocks, trampolines…). Despite its linearity, I find this title more enjoyable than its predecessor. The difficulty’s been dialled down (you no longer have to start from scratch every time you lose a life), the character’s a bit more agile to control, and the gameplay’s more varied (bonus levels, funny mounts…).
