An old shareware game with an improbable name, later turned charityware (its creator encourages players to donate to cancer research), this title was updated in 2011 with some graphical and audio enhancements, along with a list of optional challenges to complete (those trendy achievements).
You play as a soldier on a mission to a hostile planet, armed with a rifle and facing off against other soldiers (presumably aliens), flying saucers, and mutant Barbapapas…
It’s a simple, responsive, and fun game, if not exactly a looker. Still, there are a few delightful touches, like bodies being flung into the air by grenades (and remaining visible when they hit the ground) or enemies dropping their weapons when shot, scrambling to pick them up, and leaving blood trails everywhere (even more so in the 2011 version).
If I were to indulge in one or two criticisms—which is, of course, entirely unlike me—I’d highlight a slight lack of variety over time and, of course, that explosion sound effect, heard a billion times across games and movies alike.
